Private 2-day tour · Hotel pickup in Aswan

Stay the night, skip the rush

A private two-day trip from Aswan: the drive south, a guided visit of both temples, a night in an Abu Simbel hotel with lunch, dinner and a felucca ride, then the drive back next morning. Pick it if the 4am day trip sounds rushed and you want an evening by Lake Nasser.

Abu Simbel 2-Day Private Tour with Felucca

About this experience

Day one: a private car collects you in Aswan for the drive south, which the listing puts at about 4 hours (the road is about 280 to 300 km). Your guide is waiting at Abu Simbel and takes you through the Great Temple of Ramesses II and the Temple of Hathor and Nefertari. Lunch follows at a local restaurant, then check-in at the hotel the operator books for you. At 5pm you are collected for the felucca ride, which guests describe on Lake Nasser at sunset, with the temples in view, and dinner at a local restaurant. Day two starts with breakfast; the driver picks you up around 9am and you are back in Aswan around 1pm.

Entrance fees are included, with all fees and taxes, so the ticket for both temples is covered. For reference, the ticket costs EGP 822 for foreign adults and EGP 445.5 for students up to 24 with ID on the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities' official ticket site (2026), and one ticket covers both temples. The guide speaks English; Spanish, German or French cost extra. Pickup from the island hotels, Gharb Soheil, Nagaa al-Mahatta or New Aswan costs USD 10 extra per person. Gratuities are not included. The listing does not name the hotel; one guest describes a simple, colourful place with patio gardens.

Read the plan closely: the temple visit is on day one, after the drive, not at dawn. What the night buys you is the evening. You are in Abu Simbel after the day groups have gone back to Aswan. The sound and light show at the temples runs most evenings (2026 schedule: 7pm and 8pm, USD 20 per adult) if at least 10 foreign visitors book, according to its operator, the Misr Company for Sound, Light and Tourism Development. The show is not part of this tour, but guests have added it; ask your guide to fit it around dinner. On the road, tourist vehicles pass security checkpoints and travel in daylight; the old police convoy is gone.

What guests say

★★★★★

We did have a wonderful time in Abu Simbel, the unique historical site that we discovered through the visit, the view from Nasser lake on the felucca at sunset and the lightshow. Supported by a great team: The driver was very competent and drove us very safely. Ahmed Ashraf, our guide was very knowledgeable / very engaging with his explanations and has been very flexible adapting the program as well as coordinating everything for us. This made our experience really fantastic !

A very nice trip! Especially since Abu Simbel is quite far, it makes sense to spend the night there and have a bit more time to experience the place. The felucca ride on Lake Nasser is also great, it gives wonderful views on Abu Simbel. We also did the Sound & Light show there, highly recommended. The hotel is super cute, simple, but lovely decorated with lots of colours and paintings and nice patio gardens to relax. [...]

Tips before you book

  • Pack one overnight bag. You check out with it on day two, when the car leaves around 9am.
  • Book the sound and light show for the evening: USD 20 per adult, 7pm or 8pm on the 2026 schedule.
  • Ask for the day-one pickup time so you know when you reach the temples. There is little shade, and from May to September midday passes 38 C.
  • Carry small Egyptian pounds for tips; gratuities are not included.
  • Planning the Sun Festival on 22 February 2027? Book early, rooms fill, and ask whether the higher ticket that day (EGP 1,272 for foreign adults, 2026) is covered.
