Nice Tours · Hotel pickup in Aswan

Fly there, skip the road

A private six-hour trip that swaps the desert highway for two short flights: hotel pickup in Aswan, the plane to Abu Simbel and back, an English-speaking guide at the temples and the entry ticket in the price. Pick it if the 4am start and the long van ride are the part of the day you dread.

Abu Simbel by Flight from Aswan

About this experience

The whole day runs by air. A private car collects you from your Aswan hotel in the early morning and drops you at Aswan airport. The flight south takes about 45 minutes. Your guide meets you at Abu Simbel airport, a couple of kilometres from the village, and takes you the short way to the temples. After the visit you fly back and the car returns you to your hotel: six hours door to door, where the road tours from Aswan run to about ten.

The entry ticket is included. The listing covers the entrance fees to the Abu Simbel temples, so you see the Great Temple of Ramesses II and the Temple of Hathor and Nefertari on one ticket. For reference, the ticket costs EGP 822 for foreign adults and EGP 445.5 for students up to 24 with ID on the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities' official ticket site (2026), and one ticket covers both temples. The guide speaks English; Spanish, German or French are add-ons at checkout. Guides usually brief you outside the temples; inside the halls you explore on your own. Pickup from the island hotels, Gharb Soheil, Nagaa al-Mahatta or New Aswan costs USD 10 extra per person.

Flights are the one part the operator cannot control. EgyptAir flies the route (Air Cairo has also flown it), schedules change, and flights can be suspended: the travel site Wego reports that a sandstorm grounded Aswan and Abu Simbel flights on 9 January 2026. A late plane eats into your time at the temples, because you leave when the return flight leaves. Flight trackers showed a late-morning departure from Aswan on most days in October 2026, which puts you at the temples near midday, in full sun. Ask the operator for the confirmed times for your date, and keep a spare day in Aswan if Abu Simbel is the reason for your trip south.

  • Two flights of about 45 minutes instead of some seven hours on the desert road
  • A private guide waiting for you at Abu Simbel airport
  • The entry ticket for both temples already in the price
  • Back at your Aswan hotel about six hours after pickup
  • Free cancellation up to 24 hours before

Tips before you book

  • Ask for the confirmed flight times for your date as soon as you book. They set the whole day.
  • Carry your passport for the airport and the security checks.
  • Bring a hat and water. A late-morning flight puts you at the temples near midday, and from May to September it passes 38 C by then.
  • Staying on an island, in Gharb Soheil or New Aswan? Add the USD 10 pickup when you book.
  • Photos with your phone are free inside the temples. No flash.
