Private Abu Simbel Day Trip with Lunch

About this experience

The listing gives an 8am pickup from your hotel in Aswan and about 9 hours in all, later than the 4am to 5am starts of the shared vans. Some guests in 2026 left at 6am, so confirm the time with the supplier. The private, air-conditioned car takes about 3 hours to cover the 280 to 300 km to Abu Simbel, passing security checkpoints on the way. A local guide meets you at the temples, and the listing promises about 3 hours there, more than most tours.

The entry ticket is included: EGP 822 per foreign adult on the official ticket site in 2026, or EGP 1,272 on 22 February and 22 October, and one ticket covers both temples. Lunch at a local restaurant near the site comes after the visit; guests describe grilled chicken or meat with rice and salad, and fish from Lake Nasser. Drinks with lunch are not included, but the driver has water for you. Tipping is extra.

Two rules matter: book at least 48 hours ahead, and send a copy of your passport during booking, with full names, nationalities and passport numbers. Hotels on the islands are not collected; one guest met the car on the mainland. A later start means arriving close to midday. There is little shade at the temples, and from May to September it passes 38 C by midday. You can cancel free up to 24 hours before the start on GetYourGuide.

It included hotel pick-up, entry, and lunch (drinks not included). The driver, Mohammed (who was very nice), had three bottles of water ready for me and gave them to me at different points during the tour. Take plenty of sun cream with you, because you'll need it.

my guide gave me the history about the temple that increased my appreciation of the tremendous task by UNESCO.

Tips before you book

  • Book at least 48 hours ahead and upload the passport copy during booking. The listing will not run without it.
  • Ask for an earlier start between May and September. An 8am pickup puts you at the temples near midday, the hottest part of the day.
  • Staying on an island? Arrange to meet the car on the mainland; island hotels are not collected.
  • Bring cash for drinks at lunch and for tips. Both are extra.
  • Use the drive. Ask the guide to explain the temples in the car, so your 3 hours on site are for looking.
