Abu Simbel ticket prices 2026

One ticket gets you into both temples at Abu Simbel, and in 2026 it costs EGP 822 for a foreign adult. That number surprises people who have seen EGP 750 elsewhere. Here is where each figure comes from, who pays what, and how you pay.

Ticket prices at Egypt's monuments are set by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, and 2026 brought two changes that matter here: Arab visitors now pay the foreign rate, and the Ministry's own booking portal shows a higher Abu Simbel price than its printed list.

Below: the 2026 prices, the gap between the two official sources, who gets the student rate and who goes free, how to pay, and which tours already include the ticket.

The quick answer

Entry to the Abu Simbel temples costs EGP 822 for foreign adults and EGP 445.5 for students up to 24 with ID on the Ministry's official ticket portal in 2026; children under 6 go free. On 22 February and 22 October, the sun alignment days, it is EGP 1,272 (students EGP 670.5). One ticket covers both temples. The ticket office takes bank cards, not cash.

How much is the Abu Simbel entry ticket in 2026?

EGP 822 for a foreign adult and EGP 445.5 for a foreign student, on the Ministry's official ticket portal, egymonuments.com, in 2026. On 22 February and 22 October it is EGP 1,272 and EGP 670.5.

That one ticket covers the whole site: the Great Temple of Ramesses II and the Temple of Hathor and Nefertari next door. There is no separate Nefertari ticket at Abu Simbel. (The Tomb of Nefertari, with its own expensive ticket, is in Luxor, a different monument.) Phone photos are free; flash is not allowed.

The site is open every day from 6am, with last entry at 4pm, and the portal asks visitors to arrive at least an hour before closing. Prices on the portal are in Egyptian pounds only.

Why does the official portal say EGP 822 when the price list says EGP 750?

Both are Ministry sources. The booking portal, where tickets are actually sold, shows EGP 822 in 2026; the printed price list, last updated in November 2024, shows EGP 750. Budget for EGP 822.

The Ministry publishes a downloadable list of prices for all its sites, and it lists Abu Simbel at EGP 750 for foreigners and EGP 375 for foreign students, with EGP 1,200 and EGP 600 on the alignment days. The portal shows the higher figures in the table above. Travel blogs in 2026 quote both, which is why you see two numbers online.

The portal is the price you pay when you book there, so plan with EGP 822. Prices are set by the Ministry and can change; check the portal before you go.

Who pays the student price, and do children go free?

Students up to the age of 24 with a valid ID pay EGP 445.5 in 2026. Children under 6 go free. The portal lists no separate child price for ages 6 and up.

The portal's rule is short: "Students must present a valid ID and their age must not exceed 24." On the alignment days the student ticket is EGP 670.5.

Egyptians pay a much lower local rate (EGP 30.5 in 2026), and the portal says a foreign spouse of an Egyptian is treated as Egyptian. Everyone else from abroad, from age 6 up, should plan on the adult or student ticket.

Do Arab visitors pay the foreign price at Abu Simbel?

Yes. Since 1 January 2026, Arab visitors pay foreigner rates at Supreme Council of Antiquities sites and museums, Abu Simbel included.

The Supreme Council of Antiquities decided this on 30 June 2025, as Egypt Independent reported in July 2025, and it took effect at the start of 2026. Before that, Arab nationals paid reduced rates at many sites. For Abu Simbel it now means the same EGP 822 (students EGP 445.5) as any other foreign visitor.

Can you pay cash for the Abu Simbel ticket?

No. The ticket office takes bank cards, not cash. You can also buy online on the portal or in the Experience Egypt app.

The Ministry stopped cash ticket sales at Abu Simbel and other major sites in June 2023, as Egypt Independent and Daily News Egypt reported. The portal's FAQ lists Visa and Mastercard on every channel: the website, the Experience Egypt app, the on-site counters and the self-service kiosks. It also says tickets are non-refundable and cannot be replaced if lost, so choose your date with care.

Cash still has its uses. Carry small Egyptian pounds for tips, toilets, water and the buggy from the entrance. Parking is extra for vehicles: the Ministry's list (Nov 2024 edition) gives EGP 25 for a car.

Are Abu Simbel ticket prices going up, and which tours include the ticket?

Prices are set by the Ministry and can change; other sites have risen, such as the Grand Egyptian Museum, from EGP 1,570 to EGP 1,830 for foreigners on 1 November 2026. Many tours include the ticket, so that cost is settled when you book.

The Grand Egyptian Museum change, reported by Egypt Independent in October 2026, is context only: it shows the Ministry does adjust prices, sometimes with a few weeks' notice. Check the portal before you travel.

On GetYourGuide no product sells just the ticket. Tours sell the trip, and the ticket is either included, an option you add when booking, or paid locally. Here is how it works on the trips on this site:
