Abu Simbel Group Tour with Entry Ticket

About this experience

Nice Tours runs this shared 10-hour tour from Aswan, and the price covers what the cheaper day trip leaves as options: the Abu Simbel entry ticket and an English-speaking guide. That ticket alone costs EGP 822 for a foreign adult on the official ticket site in 2026 (EGP 1,272 on 22 February and 22 October), and it covers both temples. Pickup is from your hotel in Aswan in an air-conditioned van, and guests in October 2026 describe a group of about 16.

The start is early: one October 2026 guest left at 4am, in line with the usual 4am to 5am departures, and the van collects everyone hotel by hotel. Abu Simbel is about 280 to 300 km south of Aswan, roughly 3.5 hours each way by road. The old police convoy is gone, but tourist vehicles still pass security checkpoints and travel in daylight. You arrive mid-morning and have about 2 hours on site. Guides usually brief you outside; inside the temples you explore on your own. One guest liked going in first while it was quiet and hearing the explanation afterwards; ask your guide if you prefer that order.

Food and drinks are not included, so bring a packed lunch and water, as the listing suggests. Hotels on the islands, in Gharb Soheil, Nagaa al-Mahatta and New Aswan are outside the standard pickup area and are not included on this tour; the listing also notes that a hotel pickup is sometimes not possible under local rules, so read the meeting point in your voucher. There is little shade at the temples, and from May to September it passes 38 C by midday. You can cancel free up to 24 hours before the start on GetYourGuide.

What guests say

★★★★★

I liked the way we went in first when there weren't any people, looked around, took pictures, and then came out to listen to the explanation. I think it's a good pace [...] It wasn't too slow, and I was able to hear only the important key points.

The drive was long but expected. Driver was great and included stops for us. Communication was clear throughout - from both yourselves and the guide. Really excellent trip.

Tips before you book

  • Ask the guide whether you can go in first and hear the talk afterwards. Some groups do it that way to catch the halls before they fill.
  • Bring breakfast and a packed lunch. Food is not included, and the day starts long before cafes open.
  • Carry small Egyptian pounds for toilets, drinks and tips. The ticket is covered, so you need no card at the gate.
  • If you are a student up to 24, this price assumes the adult ticket. The day trip with the ticket as an option may suit you better, since students pay EGP 445.5 at the gate (2026).
  • Light, covering clothes and a hat help. There is little shade at the temples, and from May to September it passes 38 C by midday.
